Alex Craft isn’t your typical private investigator. As a grave witch, she finds it best to go directly to the source of a crime by speaking to the shade of a dead witness or victim. The shade contains memories and emotions of the recently dead and allows Alex to solve cases quicker than most. As she is finishing up a case that will have the first shade ever to testify in court, the shade attacks her and sends her on a chase to find the killer. With help from Death and a detective named Falin, Alex will have to close this case soon before it kills her. I love the idea of a witch being able to raise a ghost or shade and communicate with them to solve cases. Even better is the relationship between Alex and Death and the tension created by Falin. This is an excellent series that I am anxious to continue.
