Cooper Gosling needed a change of scenery, so she applied to the National Science Foundation to be a resident artist at the South Pole. Little did she realize that she would be surrounded by other quirky, damaged people just like her. After a climate change denier arrived at the station, she found herself choosing sides and engaging with the people that she had been trying to avoid. South Pole Station is exotic, witty, thought provoking, and illustrates to us how we can try to run from ourselves but we can't hide.

“Prepare yourself for a frozen and fun adventure in the Antarctic. Cooper Gosling apparently does not have enough cold weather or oddball people in her Minneapolis life, so she heads to the South Pole Station to try to reclaim her career as a painter. Ashley Shelby has collected a wonderful cast of quirky characters in this southernmost ice box and readers are in for a treat when they meet this bunch of scientists, artists, medics, and misfits. Bundle up and enjoy the ride!”

Cooper's not so sure that's an achievement, but she's got nothing left to lose, so she decides to accept a one-year assignment to the National Science Foundation's Artists & Writers Program in Antarctica. There, she encounters the Polies, a group of misfits that only have in common their conviction that they don't belong anywhere else. But when a fringe scientist arrives-claiming that climate change is a hoax-his presence rattles the already imbalanced community, bringing them to the center of a global controversy an.
