The latest novelization of Dexter brings the heroic serial killer directly in the spotlight and in front of a television camera. Plans are made for a TV program based on a murder investigation. The actors are to study all aspects of the real deal and follow professionals as they go about their daily routine. As Dexter is assigned an actor to follow his every move, a more than real murder investigation happens that is associated to the main actress involved in the production. Dexter finds himself not only heavily involved in the case but a main player and bodyguard of the leading lady. Struggling with inner demons, Dexter commits himself as protector, family man, and to solve the mystery alone, while combating his killer instincts that desire to surface the whole way.
Jeff Lindsay returns with Dexter's Final Cut, a voyeuristic adventure into the mind of a serial killer that constantly struggles between the balance of a normal nine to five working family man and a haunted internal being that lives within the mentality of a murderous machine. Once again Lindsay evokes emotion from the reader by lending to the kindness of Dexter then divides it with the vengeful violence that he is only capable of hiding. Surrounding the core of seriousness with the slight humor of his co-workers, then adding torment of his relationship with his sister, Lindsay's uncanny ability to capture intriguing characters balanced with emotional progression throughout his novel results in a "can't put down" book. The Dexter books continue to be an intensifying read for return fans, and for those new to the series...definitely take a stab at them.
