About the Author
Clement C. Moore was born in New York City in 1779. A professor and writer, he is best known for this poem, which he wrote for his children in 1822. Originally entitled A Visit from St. Nicholas, the poem soon became better known by its famous first line: ’Twas the Night Before Christmas.
